The Marine City Art Drift was born from a bold collaboration between three creative forces: New Century Art Gallery, MC Marketplace, and The Painted Toad. Spearheaded by Jeanne Burris Johnson and Cory Johnson, founders of New Century, the idea took shape after the gallery received a $5,000 Backing Small Business Grant from Main Street America and American Express. That early seed money—and the momentum it created—later led to an additional $25,000 enhancement grant.
But this wasn’t just about funding. The vision was clear from the beginning: to spotlight Marine City’s thriving art scene and strengthen the connection between artists, local businesses, and the community. The Art Drift launched with purpose—and it now stands as a springboard for future events that will continue to celebrate art, elevate Marine City, and build lasting bridges between creativity and commerce.
